I like to read reviews. It gives me awesome feedback on what readers think works well...and what didn't work for them. I always take this feedback into consideration when it comes to writing my current work in progress. Sometimes I get conflicting feedback and it's hard to know what to do with that. So...poll time!!!
Some love 'em some love triangles (I know I do, that's why I wrote one!) while others hate it. Some think too much action, some think not enough. The reviews I have received so far regarding the romance in Ignited have been positive. Most seem to prefer the slow burn type of romance that develops between Kris and Nathan. I've read enough books, and read enough reviews of other authors' works, to know that most readers are turned off by what they call 'Insta-love' romances. I prided myself in knowing that my two MCs did not have an Insta-love connection. I figured that since ista-love doesn't happen in the real world, it shouldn't happen in my books.
Interestingly enough, I recently got a review that complained about the slow progression of the romance. That the reader knew it was going to happen, so "get to it already" I believe is an exact quote. So...now I'm confused. Granted, this is the only review that mentioned not liking the romance. But I have to ask now...what do you all prefer? A "get to it already" romance or a slow burn romance? Or maybe it depends on the context?
I want to know what my readers like (and dislike) so please take a minute to answer below. Or add your own answer!
